Pascalis Kastanas
Pascalis Kastanas is the Packaging Sustainability Manager at Nestlé Greece/Albania/Cyprus, leading the company’s transition toward circular packaging systems and responsible material use. With a career spanning several European markets—including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Romania, and Serbia—he has built extensive expertise across key food and beverage categories such as coffee, dairy, infant nutrition, and confectionery.
He holds a PhD in Food Science & Technology from the University of Reading, providing a strong scientific foundation for his work at the intersection of food safety, materials science, and sustainable packaging design. Prior to focusing on sustainability, Pascalis managed major packaging and product innovation projects, oversaw new production line installations, and contributed to the design of industrial governance structures in the food sector.
At Nestlé Greece, he drives initiatives that reduce virgin‑plastic use, expand food‑grade recycled content, and ensure alignment with evolving EU and national environmental legislation. His strength lies in translating complex regulatory and technical requirements into practical strategies that enable cross‑functional teams and senior leadership to embed sustainability into business operations.
Pascalis collaborates with SEVT and industry associations on environmental policy proposals and actively supports the development of young engineers and scientists.
